Still getting ready those Stargate Atlantis reviews, but I just watched what's out on New Amsterdam and I just thought I'd put my thoughts down. These are positive thoughts, by the way.
Spoilers for all three episodes of New Amsterdam so far, and it has been added to my list of shows I'm likely to talk about.
Summary
The story revolves around a man who has been alive for 400 years, and counting. His current name is John Amsterdam and his current job is none other than homocide detective. He has been alive after he saved a Native American girl from being murdered by one of his fellow Dutch settlemen, who ended up killing John instead. The Native American girl brought him back to life and told him that he would live until he found his true love.
Thoughts on the plot and the episodes
To be honest, I was iffy when I first started watching. This series has plagiarist claims and I must admit the "one true love" angle does sound a little stupid, if you ask me. But this series is so good, so good, so good. You think John is a little aloof at first, but when you find out more about him and his past; the fact that he knew a club was a speakeasy or the fact that he names his dogs after the numbers he's had (for example, he's at 36 dogs now) and the fact that his best friend is his son. These all add to his character, and what a one he has.
In the second episode, when he tries to find out what his one true love's name, Omar, his 65 year old son, get agitated when John appears to forget the day of Omar's mother, and John's ex lover's, death anniversary. But at the end, he consoles him by giving him a book he once gave to his mother, Lily, inscribed with "You will always be the one." It was beautiful and touching at the same time. You also find out that he has had other children in the past who have know about his ability to transcend time.
And in the episode that aired on Monday, you find out that his one true love, a doctor named Sara Dillane whom he finally met, has a husband of her own.
Great series, great drama, great character.
What This Blog Is
So I intentionally started this blog in order to (maybe) move here if my friends on Livejournal decided to leave. Thankfully, no one I knew left, so then I didn't know what to do with this.
A couple of months later, I made a journal at GreatestJournal to store useless lists like "Who's my favourite character?" and "What are my favourite pairings?" Then GJ died in 2008, so I moved it to InsaneJournal.
Then, I remembered I had this blog, and so I decided to start using it like my IJ, except with more indepth thoughts and explanations. The side bar holds many random things, such as the RSS feed to my Google Reader and my precious list of males I frequently fangirl over.

Reading this page will probably help you understand me better; it's like a disclaimer. Honestly, that is me in a nutshell.
